Speakeasy with S. Bear Bergman Tonight! (September 1st)

September 1, 2009

Writer, storyteller, gender-jammer and raconteur S Bear Bergman is coming to town, bringing hir usual mouthful of tender, dirty, complicated, challenging joyful words. But this is not just a reading. A Speakeasy is a whole show, a fresh combo platter every time. Expect jokes, stories, smut, rough drafts, and unpublished work along with what you’ve read already. All this, plus: plus Improv Storytime, where you, dear audience, ask for the story topic and Bear tells a fresh, unrehearsed story spun out of road snacks into gold. Come enjoy the snap and crackle of a live show  – something that cannot be repeated, paused, or saved; performed only for the warm souls that show up.

September 1st at In Other Words. Doors at 7, show at 7:30.  All tickets Pay What You Can (suggested donation $10).

S. Bear Bergman is an author of two books (Butch Is a Noun, The Nearest Exit May Be Behind You) and three award-winning solo stage shows, a storyteller, a gender-jammer, and a good example of what happens when you overeducate a contrarian. Ze is also a longtime activist on behalf of queer and trans youth. Bear lives in Southern Ontario with hir husband j wallace, and works at the points of intersection between and among gender, sexuality, and culture (where ze spends most of hir time keeping people from installing traffic signals there).
