In Other Words

In her debut collection, Suzanne Sigafoos illuminates landscapes where fire-opals and spilled wine meet at the intersection of love and loss. “A wise adage tells us that truth consists of the mind and heart speaking as one. Here is a poet whose brain and heart have been married so long they can ‘love and fear the stampede of thunder / a darkened sky, air that jitters like a wire.’ ” writes Paulann Petersen, Oregon’s Poet Laureate, of these “moving and resonant” poems.
