A raffle, you say? With prize baskets? Tell me more!
This year, we are going BIG or going home. Not only will we raffle off three amazing premium gift baskets, but we will also have a silent auction for three autographed season three Portlandia posters.
Our BIGGEST raffle basket is the Feminista. Let Susan Bristow Ford of Spice Up Style help you revamp your wardrobe with a three hour closet consult worth $300. Susan trained with Stacy London of What Not to Wear, but never fear – she won’t be trashing your wardrobe! To keep this fashion focused extravaganza in touch with your feminist values, this basket includes both Cosmetics, Fashions and the Exploitation of Women and Fresh Lipstick: Redressing Fashion and Feminism for your perusing pleasure. We might even throw in a surprise accessory or two just to keep it flashy!
Being beautiful is hard work though, on the inside as well as out. To help you relax after all these big decisions, this basket includes a Zero Balancing session with Elizabeth Zenger, the hot new massage practice guaranteed to melt away all your woes. We’ve thrown in a few soaps from IOW vendor Jackie Barrett of Lady Fern Soap to be sure you sparkle from head to toe too!
But In Other Words isn’t only concerned about how you look – in fact, we aren’t concerned about that at all! We care about how you FEEL, which is why our next basket is all about health and wellness. Think of it as our Spaaahh basket. Dr. Jennifer Karon-Flores is a licensed naturopathic physician who loves assisting patients in reclaiming their health and balance in life, and she is donating a gift certificate worth $350 that includes one initial 90 minute consultation and one return 60 minute consultation. She enjoys working with women on optimal wellness, and uses tools including nutrition, herbs, vitamins, minerals and homeopathic remedies to facilitate healing. In addition, her specialized techniques of Craniosacral therapy, Arvigo Maya Abdominal Therapy™ and Holistic Pelvic Care™ facilitate nervous system and hormonal balance, as well as pelvic well-being.
Going to the doctor isn’t exactly fun, so we are perking this basket up with a few other treatments to help you Zen out. Adrianne Cabury has donated a one hour shiatsu massage session to melt all your cares away. A few soaps from Lady Fern Soap and a gift certificate to Common Ground’s inner city hot tub and sauna should round out the mellow.
Getting all these raffle baskets together makes a girl awfully hungry, which is why our final basket is targeted at you Foodies out there, and we made sure to keep it local and fresh! Grand Central Bakery will keep the bread on your table for a year with a donation of a loaf-of-the-month club certificate. $30 of gift certificates to the Swamp Shack should help you laisse le bon temps rouler, but if you had a more romantic date night in mind, never fear – Mother’s will help you out with a certificate for dinner for two downtown! To help you bring home your feminist values to the dinner table, we are including a copy of The Political Palate: A Feminist Vegetarian Cookbook as well as a few tools of the trade.
Hungry for these raffle baskets yet? If so, be sure to join us for the party on the 11th – the only way to win is to show up and buy a ticket! You can buy your ticket now at In Other Words. For more details, head over to the Facebook event.
